This Wednesday (20), McLaren announced that Oscar Piastri will remain their driver until the end of 2026, as he signed a multi-year contract extension.

This news comes in no shock, since Piastri has been proving his talent on the track and delivering good results to the team. He is 11th in the Drivers Championship with 42 points, and after retiring in Bahrain on his debut at the start of the season, he has scored six top-10 finishes. His best result was fourth in the British GP, at Silverstone.

Before gaining a seat in Formula 1, Oscar won the 2019 Formula Renault Cup Championship, the 2020 FIA Formula 3 Championship and also the 2021 FIA Formula 2 Championship.
About the renewal Piastri said “I am thrilled to be extending my partnership with McLaren for many years. I want to be fighting it out at the front of the grid with this team and I am excited by the vision and foundations that are already being laid to get us there”.
His teammate, Lando Norris also stays with McLaren. Norris signed a deal till the end of the 2025 season earlier this year.
