According to the article published by the news website Nieuwsblad, last Sunday (15), the sporting director of Jumbo-Visma, Merijin Zeeman, states that he has in mind a new sponsor for the team that could replace the Jumbo supermarket chains. The coach reported that he had already informed the board about the suggestion.

According to the vehicle, the coach had announced that conversations had been held with the new sponsor and that everyone would soon be able to find out more details about the union. “It is now certain that we can continue to build this team in the coming years. Am I saying the team is guaranteed? Yes, absolutely, although I can’t give any more details,” he said.

The announcement of the new support came shortly after the supposed union between Jumbo-Visma and Soudal-QuickStep was consequently dissolved, putting an end to the super team rumors. Speculation about the teams left athletes uncomfortable for weeks with the possibility of a new future.

“It is true that we met with Soudal-QuickStep but it was exploratory. We also talked to Remco Evenepoel, but that was also somewhat exploratory. What suits our team best, how realistic is it, the advantages and disadvantages, does it make us better or not? This has been explored by several people”, said Jumbo-Visma sporting director, Merijin Zeeman.

Recently, Jumbo-Visma signed an agreement with Amazon Prime in which the team acquires around 15 million euros to support the company. Additionally, there is new speculation that Pon Holding BV, which owns the team’s bike sponsor Cervélo, will step in as one of Jumbo-Visma’s main sponsors next year.
