In a statement released by Leipzig, Poulsen said that he and the club had “grown up together”. “I was basically just a young lad still when I came to Leipzig in 2013. It was a new country, a new language and a new team for me. What’s happened since is pretty crazy”.
“We’ve had two promotions, played in the Champions League and, to top it all off, we’ve won two DFB-Pokal titles in recent years. The club and myself have developed together – you could even say we’ve grown up together”, added Poulsen.
The striker also said that he,director of soccer Rouven Schröder, and manager Marco Rose talked about his future and “quickly agreed” to continue the work past 2024. “I’m extremely proud of the respect people have for me here and the support of the fans over the years. Now, we want to write the next success story together.”
