The former Liverpool player only spent six months at the club, but regretted his decision and asked to leave the team. The information is from the website “The Athletic”.

Henderson will terminate his contract, which was originally for three years. He is close to signing with Ajax, from the Netherlands, a club with which he already has an agreement in place.

As a result, a return to the Premier League or Liverpool was more unlikely due to financial implications. Henderson risked being taxed around R$165 million if he returned to live in England just six months after the move.

It is worth remembering that Jordan Henderson left Liverpool after 12 seasons defending the club, where he arrived in 2011 from Sunderland. He still had two years left on his contract with the team when he was approached by Al-Ettifaq, at the request of coach Steven Gerrard.

In Saudi, he played 19 games, providing five assists and scoring no goals. Al-Ettifaq is eighth in the Saudi league, far from contention at the top of the table.
