Last Thursday (31), through social networks, with a few seconds of difference between Lenny Martinez (Groupama-FDJ), Sepp Kuss was announced as the big winner of stage 6 of the Vuelta a Espana. Thus, with the victory, the cyclist climbs ten positions and stabilizes in second place in the general classification of the competition.

At this stage, the competitors started the course in La Vall d’Uixó until reaching one of the main climbs of the Vuelta a Espana at the Astrophysicist Observatory of Javalambre, located in Teruel – Spain. Considered one of the most difficult points of the competition, some athletes ended up giving up or were unable to give their best as was the case with Remco Evenepoel who finished 3:24 behind Sepp Kuss.

“It was an incredibly difficult stage. We wanted to get out of the running and just test QuickStep. We knew it was going to be a difficult day to manage. That was the main objective. For me, winning a stage is just incredible. I’m in the general classification now, so one day at a time”, said Sepp Kuss.
With the athlete’s victory, the general classification changes completely. Remco Evenepoel loses the first place title and heads to ninth position. Primoz Roglic and Jonas Vingegaard established themselves in 11th and 12th place.
In a press conference, Remco Evenepoel described that his performance was not as good as in the other competitions: “I didn’t feel like I was giving it my all, it felt more like a controlled pace, but I just couldn’t push that limit. You only have a few days like this and today was my turn to not have the best legs”.
