“From the first year I joined, the team tried to convince me that I could win races. When I turned pro, I didn’t believe in everything. I didn’t even believe I deserved to be a pro. It was a process of convincing myself and doing races and being there enough to believe it”, said the cyclist after winning the competition.

Matteo Jorgeson signed a contract with Movistar and detailed his training for the match: “The team obviously wants me to win, they want a return on investment, but for me I needed to do it alone to justify all the work I’ve done. I think I trained like a leader for the last three, four years, training as hard as the other guys and just as hard and focused and sacrificed just as much, so I wanted to win.”

The cyclist showed an excellent performance against Mauri Vansevenant, from the Soudal Quick-Step team, overcoming all impediments in the fifth stage of the race and in the last few meters crossed the finish line with a big difference from the Belgian.
