During the Strade Bianche competition, which took place last Sunday (12), in Tuscany – Italy, Kristen Faulkner was spotted through photographs, using a glucose monitor in the midst of matches. In response, after investigation, the UCI made the decision to disqualify her from the podium.

Upon hearing the news, Kristen Faulkner, on her social networks, showed indignation at the conduct that the UCI used: “I believe that they are a valuable tool for athletes, especially for women, to take care of our physical health, although this is a conversation for another time”.

In a statement, glucose monitor company Supersapiens requested that: “We request that the UCI begin to view CGMS as a tool for athletes to protect their bodies, not as some sort of performance-enhancing device. It’s not about going faster, it’s about health”.
