Last Wednesday (19th), according to the report released by the Wielerflits website, the Jumbo-Visma and UAE Team Emirates athletes received a visit from health professionals to carry out blood collection before stage 17, in Courchevel. The measure applied was to confirm that none of the cyclists was adopting practices related to doping.

The report states that the tests took place an hour before Jonas Vingeegard and Tadej Pogocar started the route in Saint-Gervais Montblanc and did not detect any data that was related to illicit policies. “I applaud that. In fact, I also worked a lot for this. Thus, we take another step in the fight against doping. Jonas Vingegaard has had no fewer than four blood tests in the last 48 hours. We are happy to participate in this one”, said Richard Plugge, manager of Jumbo-Visma.

Due to several cases of the practice of doping, which were in the media in recent competitions, and the involvement of athletes in Operation Aderlass in which they circumvented blood tests and morning tests just before matches, the UCI has increasingly been applying stricter measures.
