In the midst of debates about footballers transferring to Saudi Arabian clubs, Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos made some comments on the subject.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated magazine, Kroos questioned the real motivations for players making the choice to play in the Arab country. “It’s been said that soccer there is ambitious, but it’s all about money. In the end, it’s a decision for money and that goes against soccer. That’s how difficult it’s starting to become for the soccer we all know and love.”

Quoting Cristiano Ronaldo, the star also commented that it’s different when you have a whole career ahead of you than when it’s coming to an end. “”Everyone has to make that decision, like Cristiano Ronaldo, who decided at the end of his career. But it’s very difficult when players who are in the middle of their careers and still have the quality to play for the best clubs in Europe decide to make that move”.

Kroos had already spoken out on the subject last week, when he wrote “embarrassing” on Fabrizio Romano’s post about the departure of Gabri Veiga to Al Ahli. Veiga turned down offers from European soccer to sign with the Arab team.
