Daniel Ricciardo out of Singapore Grand Prix

Last Sunday (3), after the Monza Grand Prix, the Red Bull team principal Christian Horner updated Daniel Ricciardo’s status, and suggested that he won’t be returning to the Singapore Grand Prix in two weeks.

“I don’t think there’s any chance that he’ll be ready by then.” said Horner, adding that it would be optimistic a comeback for the Japan Grand Prix, between September 22 and 24. “…But his recovery is going well. He has mobility in his hand and is in rehabilitation now.”

Ricciardo began the 2023 season as a third driver for Red Bull, and replaced Nyck DeVries in AlphaTauri competing in the Hungarian and Belgian GPs without scoring any points. Unfortunately, the driver suffered an accident during free practice for the Dutch Grand Prix, on August 25th, and required surgery after breaking a metacarpal.

With Daniel out, Liam Lawson was called in to replace him. Lawson is AlphaTauri’s reserve driver since last year, and he will certainly do his best to get a permanent position in the future with either of Red Bull’s teams.
