Bayern coach criticizes players after defeat: “They’re not as good as I thought”

The crisis at Bayern Munich has worsened. After the defeat to Lazio in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16, coach Thomas Tuchel confronted the players in the dressing room. According to the channel “Sky Germany”, the coach harshly criticized the squad.

“You are not as good as I thought. I will have to adapt to your level,” Tuchel said, according to the channel.

As a result, Bayern’s season is far from what is usual for the club. They were knocked out of the German Cup by a third-tier side and are five points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga – including a 3-0 defeat to their rivals last weekend.

Furthermore, in the Champions League, Bayern lost the first game to Lazio 1-0, which caused criticism from Tuchel. According to “Sky”, the tendency is for the coach to leave his position next season, with Xabi Alonso, commander of Bayer Leverkusen, being the main name considered by the Bavarian board.

In a survey carried out by the newspaper “Bild”, Tuchel’s popularity has plummeted in recent weeks. Out of 370,000 participants, 83% believe he is no longer the right coach for Bayern.

The second leg of the Champions League round of 16 is scheduled for March 5th, in Munich.
